Officer Kenneth Santucci was killed in an automobile accident when his patrol car was struck by another vehicle that had run a stop sign. The accident occurred at the intersection of Union Avenue and King Street in Nutley.

He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His partner was also transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Officer Santucci is survived by his expectant wife and two children. He had served with the Belleville Police Department for 8 months and had previously served with the Newark Police Department for 2 years.

SANTUCCI Kenneth A. Santucci Belleville police officer, husband and father, 32 Kenneth A. Santucci, 32, died on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008. The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 9 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, Nutley, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For directions or to send condolences, please visit our website at www.biondifuneralhome.com and sign the guest book. A resident of Belleville, Kenny was a student at Holy Family School and Belleville Middle School. He was a graduate of Queen of Peace High School and later graduated from the Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing. A registered nurse, Mr. Santucci had worked at the Summit Oaks Hospital in Summit. Upon graduating from the Newark Police Academy, he served on the Newark Police Department and most recently on the Belleville Police Department, where he was a member of the PBA Local 28. Kenny is survived by his beloved wife, Tricia (nee Lanzi); his loving children, Kenneth and Anthony; his devoted mother, Anna, and his sister, Gina De Francesco. He is also survived by his grandmother, Ann Santucci, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the educational funds for his children would be appreciated. Donations will be accepted at Biondi Funeral Home.
